It was agreed a new term was required to cover monitoring/measuring stations in non-tidal areas; the proposed definition for a Water Level Station was generated at TWLWG 6: New Term: Water Level Station: A place where water level observations are obtained. It is has continuous observations available for a sufficient number of years to determine the characteristic features for the locality. |

This definition is really short (from one extreme to the other). May be we should add something like: See also TIDE STATION Btw we should read: It has continuous observations available etc. (there is an "is" too many). Jean |

Agree with both comments; typo to be removed and cross-reference to TIDE STATION to be added. |

Just a minor issue: The term "charcteristic features" in the definition seems to be too generic. Suggest that this be amended to read "characteristic water level features" or "water level characteristics" (personally I would favour "water level characteristics"). |

Entirely content with these suggestions, amended definition proposed as: Water Level Station: A place where water level observations are obtained. It has continuous observations available for a sufficient number of years to determine the water level characteristics for the locality. See also TIDE STATION. |

Thanks to the Southern hemisphere contribution (not only good at rugby), we have now an excellent definition. We can move to the next issue. ![]() |
